Larsen & Toubro Infotech Is it good time to join Cognizant now for Coimbatore location considering too much attrition in recent times along with many policy changes and do they have enough projects or will there be any chance of layoffs if we don't find any projects for our skill(Tableau in my case)? I have another offer with LTI, Coimbatore for same salary but i prefer CTS more than LNT. Cognizant Larsen & Toubro Infotech

No idea. My guess is FB will be lighting up like a tree on Christmas Eve tomorrow when people start having their Career Outlook discussions with partners and receive information on pay for their cohort + sublevel + city combinations.
My understanding is you have to start at the M1A cohort. Which is the absolute bottom of what a manager can make. It doesn't make any sense to me. I'm in the same boat as you are right now facing the same ugly reality and not happy about cohorts coming out the year of my promo.
Note that my concern is that since I came in as a very experienced senior (10+ years of experience), my salary was already above most other senior associates. I'm concerned that I will be placed in the lowest manager cohort and end up with a 2% raise despite the promotion.
How experienced? 6-7 years or more? You should get the bump.
PwC 1, 10+
Op: what you say is likely. HR indicated to me that new hires are unlikely to get huge raises. PwC veterans can perhaps speak to manager raises.
PwC 3, any clue what M1A in DC area is priced at?
Likely to "screw you over".
You will probably get a 2% raise for the promotion - as you are likely paid more than the M1A cohort already
@op my understanding is that it shouldn't screw you. Let's say you are an SA3F (assuming that exists) that band has a higher salary than M1A to begin with. Thus, you might be put somewhere in the M1C or so level. Why is the cohort system so difficult to understand. It's like the salary band but only with discreet steps
@OP you can skip cohort levels... If you have 10+ years of experience, would think that'd be factored in
S1 - none of the sublevels make more then the next cohort level above it. P6 - you can skip cohorts within a grade, however not when first moving to that grade (e.g., S3 -> M2)
P3, do you have intimate knowledge of the bands? He might move from s3f to m1d to enable him to have a good bump. Also, from a leg S& perspective, bumps from on cohort steps were about 10k to 15k. If that holds, then lateral levels cannot be more than a couple Gs a year
Forget pay hike .. 2k/3k .. Maybe
If you get promoted you move to the bottom cohort of that level. You can't get promoted to M2 or M3, only M1
But can be an m1c
