Additional Posts in Consulting Exit Opportunities
When is it best to leave consulting? Here's how I think about it.
First, are you enjoying it? If so, why leave (it can be a great life long career)?
Second, are you still learning fast? If not, you're missing out.
Last, what skills do most employers value? In my experience, this dictates 2 optimal jumping off points:
(a) 2-3 years in. Consulting "tool kit" is solid
(b) ~1-2 year into Manager. Employers value experience managing people.

You’ll be even more worthy for Accenture after 1 year of AWS experience.
If you are consultant at Accenture now, do 1 year at AWS and if you don’t like it, come back into Accenture as a Manager.
Take the job. Do it for a year and then jump if you don’t like it. AMZN has such bad market reputation and you can always use that as an excuse to jump the ship.
This. Am doing this too.
Base is same but TC is going from 135 to 165
Mentor
Stay. Jump is not too big and amazon has no benefits.
I think you’ll learn more being at Amazon. Can always try it for a year then do something else.
WLB really depends on the team.
AWS offers 4-yr RSU vesting as a major incentive. They give sign-on bonuses the first year or two also. Total comp should be more. That said, take accepting job offers seriously and back out only if you must.
Stay at Accenture
Stay. If Amazon isn’t your first choice, why leave a good situation?
Help me understand what you mean when you say “tech” - very broad. If you’re at an inflection point in your career, take the risk and go to Amazon. To your point, Amazon opens up doors.
What is your tole at Accenture and what role are you moving to at AWS?
Also what is your level?
Also surprised at the fact that the base salaries are the same.. 🧐
Good for you. I hate my time at Accenture
What do you hate about it? Just curious.
