Can’t speak on PWCs policies but it could have been a bad time. I’ve seen it happen to referrals. Nothing wrong with them, they just happen to come through the system during a hiring freeze that lasts long enough for their name to fall into the void.
Chief
This is probably one of the more common scenarios. The other is that someone reviewed your resume but still didn’t think you were a good fit - the referral doesn’t guarantee an interview
It also depends on where they were in the hiring cycle. If the position had been posted for more than a few weeks they could have already had someone (or multiple people) in the final stages of interviewing and were too far along to start over with a new candidate.
good point
Keep in mind that the person giving the referral, even if a partner, may not be the decision maker of the group for the spot that you were referred for. The decision makers may have looked at your resume and still thought you weren’t a good fit for the position (and they can be quite picky! I’ve seen people not get interviews for the smallest reasons…oh he doesn’t have any experience with x or with y…we’ll pass)
A referral only guarantees that human eyes will look at your resume. Unfortunately, it doesn’t guarantee an interview
Lol
You are too nice.
Maybe you weren’t a fit for what they were looking for. Just because you were referred doesn’t mean you get to interview. 🤷♂️
