Just dropped about $10k on booking summer vacation trips for the family. Hurts to spend so much when market is in the red 😭

Worth. You can always make more money but you can’t buy back experience and quality time.

Plus… you have money to spend, I bet

Vacations and experiences are no regrets spending for me. I know I only have another decade or so before my oldest starts wanting to do vacations with his friends instead of me so I’m taking advantage of every school break I can

10k for entire family!! That's so cheap. How big is the family?

6 trips for 10k is not bad at all

Totally worth it. I took 4 family vacations per year with a total budget of $80k. Best expense (and investment) ever!

like

You won’t regret it. You’ll find other ways to build your nest egg. I wouldn’t worry about the market though. Being a LT investor means accepting that your are in it for both when the market is up and when it is down….

Totally worth it

Well glad that you did it before the world doom ;)

I take 2 a year with my family of 4 that each cost 12-15k. And sometimes a smaller third one that costs 5-10k. I’m cheap but not when it comes to travel with family.

like

Hurts now, but worth it when you’re on the vacation and don’t even remember the financial burden after your vacation. Plus 10k is affordable for a family of 4. Most I’ve spent for 2 is $7k for one trip lasting about a week

Whether or not $10k is expensive really depends on location. E.g. 1 or 2 weeks in Europe or 3-4 months in Asia/South America.

Haha for real!

Hi Fishes,
I've been offered for Engineering expert position at Novartis India. I've received offer letter 2 weeks back and my DOJ is updated to Mid December. But they told that they can send the revised offer letter 3 weeks before the joining date.
Is this normal process? Has anyone gone through similar experience?

Additional Posts in FIRE Financial Independence Retire Early

Hi! Pretty new to this concept, and really early within my career (only 3 months in). Currently on my company’s 401k plan, contributing well beyond the minimum to receive a match, and maxing the amount I can put in right now (25%). Dabbled a bit in options and stocks in general. Any advice, guides, or starting places you would give someone in my shoes? Thank you in advance!
