Just going to rant a bit… What’s really an account director’s role? ADs in my company create confusion in trying to insert themselves into the conversation, they don’t understand management consulting and confuse clients, they fake having relationships with key decision makers, often misread the company politics/camps and then try to justify their failures by trying to gaslight us into thinking we were either too expensive for the Client or didn’t do a great job on prior engagements or some BS!

I’m interviewing for a newly created position, Assistant Director of Communications & Outreach in my organization’s DEI office. This is the first interview they have requested after reviewing my writing sample. A recruiter at another B4 gave me a number much lower than what I’m currently making. Should I tell them how much im making now, which is admittantly at the very top of the SC band, or counter with a range that’s more than I’m making? I hesitate to just throw out current salary + 20% bc I’d be asking for almost $190k for a SC role and I know that would be quite a huge ask for a SC @ B4, even for tech
