Thought this was interesting. Across 160 teams of researchers, just about all failed to make good life outcome predictions on things like GPA, evictions, layoffs, and others. Data followed 4.5k families across 15 years, with 13k features (varied over time). Haven't looked at it directly yet, but will be turning the docs and data inside out... In the meantime, authors claim this as showing the limits of ML. Oh, and it's published in PNAS, so you know there's some big publication energy there.

I'm sorry you dealt with that. It really sucks and it's such a blow, I remember those days. My confidence was at a pretty low point. The thing that helped me was to remember that for every job, there are 100s of applicants. That means I have to apply for hundreds of jobs. As awful as that sounds, it's a numbers game and it's not personal. Eventually you'll find the right fit.
would you recommend any tech giant to shoot for , i am looking for work life balance
What's meant for you, will always find you. Maybe you dodged a bullet. This is coming from someone who has landed jobs at top 100 Fortune companies. One of them ended up being a shit show. No support, not enough resources or processes. Everything isn't always what it seems. Take time to process & recharge. Rejection is redirection.
This is so true! So glad you posted this!

working at google and often participating in hiring, i can say that most times it’s not about the candidate but about so many politics and factors that happen behind the scenes. don’t let this outcome discourage you
Don't expect anything in life and anything you get is bonus! You do not have the job till you have the job.
Tech market is brutal nowadays. But things seem to be looking up
Ask for advice from the recruiter. They can't tell you anything about feedback / how you did, but maybe they'll give you some tips on future interviews that could help.
google supports genocide anyway. forget Google
Quick question anyone ever heard of KELLY services
Sure. I used them as consultants many decades ago and they are still in business. But I don't hear much about them these days.
Be as positive as you can be, to highlight the attributes in your career to relate to the role being considered.
Maybe
Do not feel down. 9 times out of 10, they gave the position or promoted someone internally. Happens oftern.
Google isn’t the end all. Many jobs and many companies out there
I wouldn't feel so down on not getting into Google. I've worked there as a contractor and wasn't impressed. I rarely saw happy and smiling people.
As having worked in many tech companies, I've met MANY ex-Googlers. That says a lot. Even before Covid. However they left Google, that doesn't say anything positive to me about Google.
Sure, if you have a particular skillset that is rare and highly vaulted, you're going to be treated like royalty at Google. But that's the 2% at Google.
Google looks good on your resume to people who don't know anymore than what they read in the press and Google's PR.... But I personally don't hold them or anyone else any higher than any other, regular job.
Google isn't a special place to work anymore. It's just ultra competitive. Personally, I'm much happier working at a small company.
Your story is a painful one, and we pretty much all sympathize, because we've all been there. The main thing to remember is that a corporation will never be committed to you, even if they hire you. So don't invest yourself so heavily in them. If the interview process takes months, that's a red flag for me. I would have dropped out in that case. I know, because I've done it before. Second most important thing to remember is big companies aren't necessarily better. My current employer has less than 1500 employees and are on the cutting edge of several technical fields. We also have excellent benefits and compensation. There are several other companies like mine out there. Take a look around - you may find yourself very glad you didn't go to Google.
You are not the only one that has been through this. Happened to me, also.
Sorry to hear about this and only sending positivity to you!
Always job search from a position of power. Interviewers can smell the sent of despiration on us if we don't and despiration looks like failure they want to avoid. Always have a backup plan/savings/family/dip into 401k if eligible but never be despirit. Time span of being unemployed looks bad as well so start your own self-employed business. Doesn't matter if you make money or not but spans the gap if any is encountered. Take the raiens so to speak, be confident, competent and ready for when you get the big one on the hook. Hope this helps.
That sounds really disheartening.. My heartfelt sympathies. If I were you, I would take a break for a couple of days. Give yourself a change of scenery and activities. Detach completely from the job hunt physically and mentally. Usually, during these times, you will come up with some new ideas and strategies. You might also find out where you could have done better. All the best!
I remember the "Ninja course" interviews with Capital One. I wanted to jump out the window. Funny, the longest any of the interviewers had at the company was 6 months... that said everything. Don't waste your time shedding a tear. It's a number's game... Go for the work, not the company, build experience and become an entrepreneur...
What insight are you trying to gain from the recruiter that you don't know already. I recommend applying elsewhere and spend your energy there.
