I'm sorry you dealt with that. It really sucks and it's such a blow, I remember those days. My confidence was at a pretty low point. The thing that helped me was to remember that for every job, there are 100s of applicants. That means I have to apply for hundreds of jobs. As awful as that sounds, it's a numbers game and it's not personal. Eventually you'll find the right fit.
would you recommend any tech giant to shoot for , i am looking for work life balance
What's meant for you, will always find you. Maybe you dodged a bullet. This is coming from someone who has landed jobs at top 100 Fortune companies. One of them ended up being a shit show. No support, not enough resources or processes. Everything isn't always what it seems. Take time to process & recharge. Rejection is redirection.
This is so true! So glad you posted this!
as soon as there is a downvote from 1 of the interviewers, its over.
I can definitely empathize. It seems that Google isn't going to be hiring as much for quite some time. I passed the HC ~2 years ago but had to have my application closed after the Google froze hiring. Was definitely pretty devastating at the time for me since I was really looking forward to joining Google. I still would love to join Google but I don't know when things will open back up again.
Ouch
Why join "the Dark Side", when you can apply for a job to join Adform (the good side) instead?!
At least you got interviews... I'm currently getting nothing but rejections, from everywhere.
sorry to hear this. I feel Gemini really hurt google for a while.
Go out for a walk since spring is here. Get some fresh air and keep applying! I absolutely hate my current job and wish I could leave. I have been applying for jobs every soon after I get home. Good luck to you!
Celebrate it. You don't want to join. Most of the people are on stress leaves and the span is max 18 months.
Google was a great place to work many years ago, but now its just another big corporation. There are better places to go! Find a new whale to fish or try again. I know a Googler that applied every year for many years before getting in.
I just applied to Microsoft for systems engineer wish me luck anything I need to know before I have an interview any tips or suggestions would very much appreciated 🙂
Simply next.
I would not be a part of months long interview in any case since it take WAY too much time and other opportunities you missed along the way.
Don't worry, google's designs are thrash. Just put a pixel and a iPhone side by side. Maybe you could get a job in Apple, you were rejected because you might be too good.
If an interview (chain of interviews) took months that must be a red flag. If it's more than 2 (3 tops) weeks and more than 3 rounds that's also a no go (2 rounds - one technical and one non technical is the ideal, but sometimes it's 3). It's just one offer they let you down, that's not the end of the world, there are many others. No need to be devastated about it and it doesn't mean you're not good enough (but probably there were someone cheaper as it's more likely the case nowadays)
Hey mate, I saw an opening for a job where the HR rep was my friend and another friend of mine applied.
She ended up 2nd out of 200ish people that applied.
While it might be heartbreaking, it's often not that you're not good enough, especially with companies like Google where everyone wants to work. Maybe you were amazing, but someone else was just a tiny little bit better fit for what they've been searching for.
Don't focus all your wishes into one place. There are many places that would be a great mutual fit - some for sure better than Google. You just gotta discover them.

Me too. Six interviews. Wasted my time on that evil company.
Google hiring is getting very very competitive (even more than before if you can believe that). Every job opening receives a ton of ex-Googlers, Googlers from other teams, laid-off FAANG engineers in addition to other candidates.
You have to be extremely talented to compete through all the rounds in a time like this. If you can get in, more power to you. If not, wait a year or two... Maybe we will reprioritize our hiring again.
Sorry you dealt with that
A Google role is a moon shot, if you got that far, you’re a great candidate. As a former Googler I can tell you I loved working there, until I didn’t. Lean on your amazing skills and apply for other roles where you’ll be appreciated
That happens, try again soon.
