Capgemini does not have a great reputation in the US. It’s seen as more of a staff aug firm. Also the firm pays lower than industry standard and is really frugal w expenses. I would stay away
If you’re really a Data Scientist, way way too low. I’ve seen several $250k+ offers in industry.
I just know I’ve seen a lot of data analysts faffing around with dashboards claiming to be data scientists, then I’ve seen the people who build proper data models that partners tout as AI. The latter are the rain makers.
Capgemini is ok if you are in between jobs. Don’t spend too much time there. 1-2 years at a time. I see some people hop in and out of Capgemini as they try to land more serious roles with reputable companies
Very valid point! Even my mom said if I work for them, max I should consider is 1-2 yrs haha 😂
Data Scientist at $130k - wow that’s low. Are you really a Data Scientist, sorry but that seems low. Capgemini isn’t cheap, do that makes no sense.
I got a similar offer of 130k from capgemini in NYC (client partner) ... in 1998. Something feels wrong. The base is low
Seems low, especially for The West Coast. But depending on how deep your resume is, I’ve seen firms place a premium on a level, title and association in exchange for lower salary.
It sounds low but depends on your level of experience. If you are moving from a Big 4 with little experience, that is low. If you are living outside SF, that is not awful. Also, how old are you? This can impact compensation even in 2018.
Good input! I’m not in the Bay, 1.5 yrs of data science experience and a masters that focused on stats/predictive analytics. Age I don’t think is relevant (but then again I know some companies will discriminate on this) but I have 6 yrs total experience, 3 yrs of which in consulting
