Is this role relevant to my experience or is it a role for much experienced person than me?
Any idea or information that what is the pay usually offered for this position?
Please provide your thoughts and suggest whether I should change 1. My role or 2. Request for more pay

In N Out pays $15 an hour. That’s awful.
Times were a lot rougher in 2008 during the recession. Don't let yourself go so underpaid
I hear ya, but times are rough. You have a full time offer doing what you love, and it comes with benefits and a guaranteed salary. Consider negotiating for higher salary, but it would be foolish to walk away when so many of your peers are unemployed or laid off.
What city is this? Retail in NYC pays more than that.
You must’ve had a nice internship, I made $10/hr in 2008 in NYC....
But it depends on your location. $16/hr is $33,280 base salary. I made 35k base my first job and at that time that was pretty standard among the entry level employees. I’d push for a little more and make sure it says in writing that you get OT after 40 hours.
I agree PM1 your first jobs pay shouldn't give you a cushy lifestyle, but they also shouldn't make recent hard working grads go back to eating ramen and living with 6 roommates just to stay above water. All just to get us in the door.
Stop with the settling! Negotiate for more. You're here to make money
It’s an insultingly low wage, but there is no shortage of people who would gladly step in to do the job for that rate just to get ink on the resume. It sucks, but I’d take it and keep doing the portfolio rounds.
P.s. I live in LA, based on my research this isn’t even close to an average entry salary for a designer...
Don’t take it unless you are willing to take it as a passion project.
Look for other opportunities, you’re worth more and you know it!
As a Jr AD, I made 55k in LA...
That’s way too low. As a designer, you’ll be working A LOT more than most people (depends on the agency I guess, but regardless...). Get at least 40-50k a year. If not that, at least getting paid for OT in your contract for sure.
If it’s in NY they may be required to pay you overtime if your base is under 50k per year. Do some homework tomorrow check. My last agency made sure everyone was at 50k for this very reason
My first fulltime writing job was $15.50 an hour. 😢 But that was 2008, so maybe that's ridiculous today.
I made 30k outta school in 2006. We all start somewhere.
Is there OT or another kind of supplemental benefits?
First job is about getting your foot in the door, not the pay. My first full time job was a 50% decrease from what I made bartending while in college. But without that painful first step I wouldn’t be where I am now. Put your head down and in 2-3 years you’ll double/triple that first offer!
As a jr ad I made 40k + OT with no Agency related experience in LA
Eek. My first internship paid me $15 in NYC. I just overtimed the shit out of it
