Call it San Fran when you get there. It seems to trigger people immensely for some reason
Fuck SF
I’d take the job @.@ SF isn’t too bad - if you like hiking and skiing that’s perfect.
I wish I hadn’t made the same mistake 6 years ago
Moving from the east to the west. Not much work out here equaled cross country flights and housing is ridiculously expensive. California is not an affordable place to raise a family.
Salary increase by 15%
Different living style be prepared for that. Upside is no snow
Oooh fair enough - have you asked them what the latest date you can start would be? I would tell them you’re on a project and you want to see it through in good faith.
Does the company have a NYC presence? If so, I’m in a similar boat — with a large tech. company in Mountain View. The team I’m offered with is solely in Bay Area, so I’ve been candid that I would prefer to stay in NYC and have been able to leverage my interview experience / case, etc. to pursue a different role in NYC.
Second question is: is it a level-up in your career or future prospects? 15% is pretty marginal salary-wise, especially for a move to a higher COLA.
SF housing has actually gotten more expensive than Manhattan. Everything else is pretty similar
I have hardly seen people coming back to east coast once they move to SF. It’s great place with excellent weather provided the money is good
It takes a certain kind of person to love SF and stay there
Yours sincerely,
a SF resident who wants to move back to NYC
