KPMG recently hit me with the PIP or Career Transition option and I chose the latter. Gave me 90 days to search for a new role and I still get paid out my salary until my separation date. Something told me a few months ago to start looking for an exit. The same week as the HR call, I was already interviewing in the final round. Received the offer last week. Happy to go! 😁✌🏽

Manager - 179K - MCOL

Job offer:

180K base
45K bonus
ESPP - 15 percent discount
4.5 percent 401K
Unlimited PTO

Exciting!! Congratulations!! I’m in a similar situation, trying to get out ASAP and away from consulting

Fortune 250 company. Fortunately, it wasn’t a ton. The role I actually received came from a recruiter who reached out to me first through LinkedIn (I have open to recruiters only on my profile). We started having conversations late March/April and I met the team, had a couple rounds, then had my final round onsite with the rest of the team recently. Their entire process took maybe 3-4 weeks total.

In that same time frame I had put in probably a couple dozen apps and had received a few phone calls. However, I basically stop pursuing those roles and gave this one my full attention and it worked out.

Not bad 90 days

Having previously worked at the Big 4 as a Sr, I got the same 90 days or PIP. Chose the 90 days too

Amazing, this gives me hope for finding something quickly. Congratulations! Any tips/tricks in the search + application process?

Amazing, always wonderful to find a recruiter on LinkedIn that is actually going to do something! I've had too many interactions with recruiters and we chat and then nothing happens. Glad someone from the company itself found you!

Let’s go! Congratulations

Congrats! I went through the same thing sevreral years ago. I was only given 30 days. I had landed a better job within 10 days.

like

You got a new job in 10 days?! That's incredible. Unheard of right now it seems.

Congrats! Best of luck. How did you find the next role so fast?

like

Thank you!

I think it’s because I was already halfway out the door. I’d been wanting to leave for a while, so when HR gave me the two options, I had already gone through 3 interviews and felt really confident about the opportunity since I only had the onsite visit left.

Whether HR stepped in or not, I was planning to leave anyway. They just ended up making the deal a lot sweeter by giving me another 3 months on full salary. Haha

like

Good for you! Congratulations! What service line were you part of? I personally got laid off 6 months ago and couldn't catch a break as I to had an exit strategy. Just didn't work out with my victory lap. I'm forced to move back to my home city now. I'm moving into BD/sales. I'm done with Consulting after this last experience. Genuinely happy to see thing worked out for you.

like

Thank you!

I’m sorry to hear that. I certainly hope that something comes your way soon. Definitely continue to apply for roles that you come across. The bright side is at least you don’t have to deal with this place anymore. I’m very happy to be moving on and closing this chapter.

Did this come as a shock? Were you staffed? Did you have good reviews? What led to this?

like

Fully staffed, good reviews, positive feedback across all my clients, etc.

I didn’t agree with my leadership on a few things so they probably felt it was time for me to move on ( I didn’t disagree as I accepted the CT).

Congratulations!!

I have only known one person who survived a pip. The issue is if you do survive, the pip will be on your employee file, so no matter where you go it will follow. This will prevent you from getting a promotion later on. You will be stuck in a dead end job, due to no growth. Your better off finding another role and leaving.

like

Lmao your “employee file” isn’t real. Unless you’re talking about staying at the same company. It won’t follow you to another job or industry

like

Congrats! Was this an internal offer for a new role with KPMG or external new company?

like

Thank you. This was an external offer.

Congratulations on the external offer! Wishing you all the best in your next chapter."

like

Thank you!

Which office location? I thought they did not do PIP in the US.

I could see that a mile away which is why I went with the CT. Once PIP is brought up, it’s just time to move on for the next opportunity.
