Wanted to update y’all. I asked and they said “yes”!
Dayum!!! 💫
Let’s start asking!
Never heard of it - however I agree it seems a reputable company would if the date cannot be changed and your presence overnight is required. But it’s a slippery slope - I once pushed for my direct report to get reimbursed for kenneling her dogs and they wouldn’t budge. 🙄 not saying it’s equivalent, but just something to keep in mind if leadership is creating new policies.
Nope! (Not at Google anyway. And Google has good benefits.)
@ACD1, I mean... Yes and no? Would need more details on why it doesn't work for you/your family to compare. For eg. Sometimes, I've had Monday meetings, meaning travel on a Sunday. Or work business trips where I'm away a few days, so have to line up extra babysitting help to supplement my partner. There have also been times that BOTH my partner and I had to travel for work at the same time, so my kiddos stay with my nanny (yes, costing more $$$). I don't/can't pass the cost of this to my company: it's part of the cost of being a working parent for me/us.
But if your situation is different, I'd love to know to consider/be informed!
I’ve never heard of that happening, but what a nice perk it would be!!
I would absolutely ask. It may not be a standard, written in a brochure benefit but is definitely something that I would expect a reputable company to accommodate if they need you to travel.
And, frankly, if they say no I’d refuse to travel. This might have been questionable in 2019 but times and priorities have changed QUICKLY.
