Retail has been on a downward spiral for years. We are expected to do more with less. Labour is in a downward race, always goes down, never goes up. And we get new tasks every day. I wish I had an answer. I wish I could say it will get better.
Pull the manager aside one day and remind them of their comment of “being so versatile” Then politely remind them they have not given you an increase and see if you are able to get a raise! If you do not ask
they assume you are happy with your pay or they may have honestly did not get a chance to do your review!
Hope this helps you get an increase for your exceptional teamwork
Remember also, that most managers aren’t allowed to give raises off review season; it’s not personal.
Retail has worked this way for decades. I spend 40 years within it and if you're hired as an associate, your job description changes with what needs to be done. It actually states that in every ad for a brick and mortar retail position - "Duties include but are not limited to..." Same for office assistants and the like. It's not right, but that's the way it has always been, sadly. When I moved up to management years ago, I would never ask of my associates something that I wouldn't roll up my sleeves and help them with, regardless of company policy. Having good management helps.
That happens a lot, it's just part of working in retail. In some ways I don't mind it, having to take care of various things keeps it from getting too boring. But sometimes it's just a lot to deal with and it can feel like I'm being taken advantage of.
You should say something, but be ready to leave if you need to. Now, if you have extra tasks, you should get paid more, or look for somewhere else.
That’s not a thing. No retailer will pay more for someone to fix the computer when it fritzs.
I felt like this in a previous retail job. The truth is in industries like that, doing more work doesn't really mean it's reflected in your pay.

Ugh, I’ve been there! I used to work as a customer service manager at a retail store, but I did everything—from running the register to taking out the trash and counting tills, and all for just 50 cents more than minimum wage.
Yes ...yes....I have felt like I was doing my job,and everyone else's too ...!! I'm 48 yrs old ,and have been through this a few times .....Advice....keep doing what your doing. I would have a talk with my supervisor and ask for a raise. If no,then start looking for another job quietly.......days off, or before or entering work. Land a better ,high paying job, then quit.
