I think it's a mixed bag—there’s value in people sharing personal experiences, and it helps folks feel less alone. But it also creates a space where misinformation spreads quickly, especially when complex mental health issues are boiled down into 15-second soundbites. We need more nuance and fewer oversimplified “fixes.”

^^^ This. The awareness and sharing of experiences online, especially as a late-diagnosed woman, was helpful in prompting me to be evaluated. My mental health is improved by diagnosis after decades of struggle, so while the misinformation and scams are frustrating, the increased awareness is a net positive.
I'm fine with increased awareness. But with many things that basic a** people get into their heads, it gets grossly misrepresented and diminished.
If every Karen thinks everybody has ADHD, they're more likely to dismiss requests for meaningful accomodations or even just basic acceptance and understanding.
I don’t think that a diet can “cure” ADHD and without knowing what this particular creator was preaching, I do notice some foods make my adhd symptoms better/worse.
At the end of the day, ADHD is such a umbrella diagnosis for so many different symptoms and experiences - no two people truly experience it exactly the same way, so I don’t think there is a one size situation that works for all, but I do think info sharing is helpful in the sense that it gives people suggestions of things to try and I do think that’s powerful.
Do I think the creators that are selling mushroom blends for focus, drink mixes for mental clarity and overpriced pills to make a quick buck are great? No, but that could be said about “cures” for things other than ADHD.
Honestly? It's become a circus. ADHD has turned into a trendy identity on TikTok, and people who’ve never been formally diagnosed are dishing out advice like they’re experts—it’s messy and potentially dangerous.
Misinformation like this goes around for a multitude of conditions. To be blunt, I just ignore it if it’s not helpful. Maybe I should care more, but I’d rather spend time living my own life the best I can.
TikTok has changed since the ban. Seeing as the owner is now in Trumps “boys club” with Musk & Zuckerberg (both against fact checking)… almost like they’re trying to de-legitimize TikTok.
Especially since all mainstream corporate news outlets are losing the attention of the younger generations, who primarily get their news from TikTok / social media
I think you have to take the advice on there with a grain of salt. Don't get me wrong there is tons of good advice butyou have to sift through it and decide what is good advice and what isn't. I do think there are lots of great tidbits on there that can help though
