Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

At Amazon, what is the difference between a Program Manager and Technical Program Manager? It looks like the Technical one gets paid about 25% more but not sure what roles/responsibilities they do differently. Amazon
Also how technical a background does someone need for a Technical Program Manager role?

Yet AirBnB employees were still really pissed off.
Be like EY - never accept they’re layoffs, only performance-based separations 🤓

Acn too
My partners company did a really good job. They were transparent for several weeks that layoffs were coming and communicated the estimated impact and severance benefits ahead of time. They were appropriately respectful and realistic without being overly apologetic. They then announced on a global townhall that the time had come. I think they did the announcement on a Monday but essentially they said, over the next 48 hours, across the globe, calendar invitations will be sent for Thursday and Friday of this week. If you receive an invitation, this is what you can expect. If you don’t receive an invitation, you are not impacted. It was a good combo of transparency and communication with a rip-the-band aid by doing it in one sweep.
Also I should mention their severance benefits were great as well. Strong severance package, health insurance, keep your computer if you want it (wiped of course), Job training/placement services, etc...
Consulting is like modern day prostitution. If you sell yourselves to clients and company managing directors , you are fine . Otherwise, you are back to the street.

Just stop paying those who are laid off. It will work itself out
Layoffs are only okay when we’re recommending them to our clients. If they happen to us, it’s because our PMDs are unfeeling bastards.
What’s the disconnect here?
