LEk 🐠, during the forced layoff last year, were you ablen to get unemployment?

Is it normal to be nervous while working at a startup? This is my third startup and a month in I’m finding myself a bit anxious. I was laid off after my last company was acquired, and this company is an entirely new role and industry for me that is not Saas. I don’t know our financials exactly but it seems like we are hemorrhaging money in several areas. My managing director has also been over several past startups that have ALL failed or filed bankruptcy. Am I paranoid or justified?

UK specific query - If my company cannot find me clients/work and want to dismiss me because they are unable to find work for me at no fault of my own do they have to provide a severance package?
UK law says it’s easy to dismiss employees with less than 2 years service but it’s a big grey area. Anyone got any experience with this?

I’ve been on the bench with J1 for about 3 months. I was worried that because I couldn’t find another project, I would get laid off so I found J2, which pays more, is very meeting heavy, but I really like. I’ve kept J1 because I’m still on the bench doing absolutely nothing and getting paid. Thinking about looking for a role on a project with J1 that’s not along my career path but will allow for me to do work with no calls so that I can manage both jobs. Does anyone have experience or advice?

Has anyone recently made the switch to in house and now feel unorganized and less productive than when billing hours? The fact that Musk himself has disclosed his diagnosis, has truly inspired me that no barriers should exist for us. The road might be tough sometimes, and working in a client-facing role requires quite a bit of our energy. Know, we are as capable as neurotypical people.
