Did any of you transition from a non-core coding role like Risk consulting/operational audit to a core/partially more coding role like Business Intelligence/Data Science etc.,? I helped during the concepting phase, was responsible for keeping the boards up to date, and wrote a lot of the supporting materials (print, social etc) but obviously I was not on the shoot or the lead on writing the script. I have now officially been in the industry for 2 years, and I already feel like my learning curve is stagnating at my current job as I went from Junior Developer to Developer this summer.

I graduated with a low gpa from undergrad (sub 2.5) :/ two years ago. I have a degree in math and CS and was wondering how I could recover from this to apply for graduate school? I really want to build my tech skills but very interested in doing so through an M.S. program. If you have any advice or faced similar situations please let me know. If you work in tech your skills are in demand. We have a choice about where we work. If your employer is more evil than the average corporation that’s on you. Figure out the companies you refuse to work for on ethical grounds before you start looking for a job. It may feel like limiting your opportunities, but most of the time a company doing bad things in the world is going to have an unpleasant internal culture to match.

I’d like to find a part time role in a start up - how do I go about it? Google has been great in terms of wlb (even though I work overtime sometimes but it’s my choice) but I want to do more, have greater impact, and expand my network. I’m an ex tech consulting manager, now L6 PgM with systems focus: my role involves writing PRDs, designing processes, managing projects, data analysis and vanilla automation (SQL, python, apps script) among other things.
