LinkedIn, unless you enjoy having to achieve a billable hours target.
Currently at Bain. My friend (a DSt) at google told me he’s doing mostly product KPI analysis. Nothing really interesting other than data slicing and dicing for the same topic.
I believe we do more interesting work. Yes, we also do basic stuff but you acquire a huge business intuition for AI/ML that I highly doubt you can learn at high tech. You don’t just hand over a piece of code or excel or whatever, you need to answer a series of “So What” questions after that.
However, at LinkedIn or tech, you might get paid more than MBB.
How ever right DS1 is, it seems like s/he has found out about a new SpongeBob SP meme recently
Mbb doesn’t do billable hours that’s b4
Good to know.

Former BCG And now Data Science leader here. DS is honestly not that hard and you can learn it many different ways and in different settings. But what you can learn 2 years at MBB is much harder to find elsewhere. With that said, diminishing returns, I would not stay longer than 2 years.
Neither if neither job has data science at the core.
LinkedIn might have perks, infrastructure, and time for you to learn data science on the side or you may be able to do it on the job. Mbb, you won't have time to learn anything aside from the firehose of your job, which won't be technical at all.
What kind of data science? ML or analytics? Id suggest whichever has more transferrable experience and skills. I just left Gamma for tech fwiw
L5 in tech? How many years at Gamma?
I’d say depends what you define as long term goal of data science. However you should be fine with either.
I’d lean towards MBB because you get the opportunity to work in industries and companies that allow you to see the breadth of DS problems and technology stacks that different companies face / deploy.
Also - if you hate your decision - I’m sure you could easily go to the other.
It’s probably easier to go from LinkedIn to Bain than the other way tbh
MBB at the beginning of your career. From MBB you can go into any niche of data science but with LinkedIn you’ll probably be narrowed down quite soon and won’t see the same breadth.
