Take home pay for most industries and roles after expenses is considerably higher in NYC so that’s the big factor for me. London has better weekend trip options as Europe has far more walkable cities and towns

Yes. EuroStar, EasyJet and RyanAir are alive and well. The checks at the border are the same as they were before Brexit.

NYC is better if you’re under 35. It’s faster paced, better night life, clubs and events, better shopping, more buzz and randomness, Americans are way more social and friendly to strangers etc. It just feels like a much bigger, more exciting, more buzzing city than London. London can get a bit boring just because people are more conservative, cliquey and closed off there. However, the slower pace can be good for young families and people who don’t want the constant chaos. London is far more elegant, beautiful, cultured, way more interesting city layout. Best weekend trip options in the world. You can be in Paris in 2 hours if you get bored etc. The bad thing is the salaries are low and cost of living is high. So you end up way ahead living in NYC and just coming to London to visit a lot or work remotely from. I think that’s the best arrangement - get a high paying job in NYC where you can work remotely from London a few months out of the year and enjoy both cities.
NYC without a doubt. For background, I’m not English or American and I’ve lived in both.
Same, same and same
London is a better city by practically every metric but both are good options
Part of it depends on what you value but London is a cleaner, older and more interesting, more cosmopolitan city with much better transportation and public services. Being able to travel for weekend trips to European cities and summers in the south of France is amazing. The food scene in London has caught up with New York in terms of variety with the quality of ingredients and food standards having always been superior. All else equal you will probably make more money in New York but you will also work harder and longer
I lived in both and don’t have a straight answer.
NYC has more substance on either end of the spectrum. High pay and bad healthcare. Amazing 24/7 nightlife for every interest group and dirty public infrastructure. Top restaurants for all price points while many apartments don’t have washing machines.
London has a higher average. Good to great public transportation. The NHS is affordable (but slow). Weather year round is bearable, but fun in the summer. Close proximity to Mainland Europe. High taxes but you get what you pay for.
NYC is a lot dirtier than London. But imo the COL is lower and there’s an infinite amount of things that you can do. London has higher COL and people are more reserved.
I’d agree with this except CoL, specifically because I find the highest expenditure (rent) to be much more variable in NYC than London. The range between living in downtown Manhattan vs Queens seems much wider than Zone 2 vs 5/6 in London.
Neither.
Both at the same time
if i have to choose, nyc, got a higher chance of being hate-crimed in london lmao
I’m British and I think that london is scarier below the line (passive) and nyc is more upfront about the issues it’s facing
As an East Asian (and non-US/UK citizen), I think it’s easier to blend in (or feel less like a perpetual outsider) in NYC culturally than in London. Also have better personal connections in the US.

As a New Yorker in London, I really miss East Asians.
(No I don’t have a weird fetish, just went to a predominately Asian high school and had a BFF that lived in Flushing).
Just left London to move to NYC. Motivation was $$ so I can save some and move back to London. London is BY FAR my favorite, but $-wise it doesn’t make sense, unfortunately.
Pro
I'm under the impression that you make a lot less in London while costs of living are quite high - I feel the ratio is better in NYC, not to say NYC is cheap though haha
Lived in both, NYC for career opportunities and London for later in life when you want to settle down.
London with NY wages and food
Pro
NYC
Nyc is overrated 🙃 London is better in terms of everything except for food

Can't go wrong with either.
London, as the healthcare system is way better than nyc/us

You must be joking? Broke NHS?

I’m a New Yorker who has lived in London for nearly a decade.
Each city has its pluses and minuses (of course)
I would choose NYC for the salaries, weather, excitement.
I would choose London for the work-life balance, proximity to Europe for cheap/fast travel, and safety.
It really helps if you build a relationship with the existing team in London and they would vouch for you coming over plus you can get on the ground insights into any upcoming headcount they might have

Neither.
Pro
London. Because I already lived in NYC and absolutely loved it.
NHS v. $$$$$$$ :)

NHS is mediocre. Would rather pay a bit of money and have access to speedy and high-quality healthcare.
