Looking for a little insight from those more knowledgeable than I: I'm an LMFT-Associate in Texas making about $60k a year. I know this is very good for this area and this field but it's just not enough to keep up with cost of living.
I'd love to go into private practice but it's just not financially feasible for me to build the clientele from ground up and my job leaves me little time or emotional wherewithal to take clients after hours. I'm willing to consider any suggestions at this point!

Recently received my CSW license and have started working as a therapist at an outpatient clinic. Is a starting salary of $64,500 fair? I am supposed to aim for 28 billing hours (get paid if clients show or not) a week with 12 hours of admin time for other tasks. Thanks for any input.

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.

Am I the only social worker/therapist who doesn’t work well with being assigned to do last minute paperwork? I’m a very organized person, both personally and professionally and this has been challenging for me in a professional setting. How would you present this to your supervisor who continues to not understand? Any feedback is appreciated 😊

So embarrassed. I literally had one job to do today which was to schedule a client and give and take her paperwork when she came in. Totally called her by the wrong name today AND gave her the wrong paperwork. She was really nice about it but I feel like my boss was disappointed and I'm disappointed in myself. I don't want her to think I won't be able to keep clients straight when I start doing supervised sessions.

How do you deal with imposter syndrome? I'm a new therapist and I work with a bunch of women who have been doing this for ages. They're all really sweet, but I can't help feeling like I'm way out of my league. I mostly see younger clients which I guess works in my favor, but I just feel like I'm totally incompetent compared to the women I work with.
