Hi All,
Looking to make the move from working in industry to big4 and was curious as to what level and pay I might be worth?
I have 10 years experience out of uni, as well as completed CPA and MBA. I have a experience in managing entire finance function of small/medium entities, but most notably solid corporate finance experience/strategy leading refinance exercises, debt raising, hedging/treasury strategy etc…Would be looking for something in deal advisory / M&A / CFO advisory etc….thanks Deloitte EY PwC @

Honestly, in the worst case of your performance, ride it out until you get pushed out to get the benefit of brand + exit. Plus who knows, by that time you might be up to speed. 🤷♂️
Can totally relate. Went from implementation ops to strategy and it’s been a pretty steep learning curve. The expectations are higher and the timelines are shorter. Be kind to yourself and remember that they hired you for your potential. There’s also no shame in asking more experienced junior resources for guidance.
And to all the people who want to do strategy believing their implementation experience warrants a lateral (I was one of them), the grass is always greener.
You prob need a full yr to get acclimated
What specifically about the pace has been difficult? Is it too many hours? Or are you struggling to keep up with the conversation? Not clear what your action items are?
We do, but I was recently given a feedback by the partner that I was slowing everyone down with my questions. So I have limited my asks now.. As i write this, I feels like I have entered a downward spiral. In order to learn, I need either time or some guidance. Since I don’t have both, my learning is ‘slow’, which frustrates partners/directors, which in turn puts me under a spot light, leading to more anxiety and further worsening of performance.
It’s the disadvantage in advantage of getting exposed to partners and directors so early in new gig. If I am you, I would find a good mentor in the firm and have honest conversations. You might get a hall pass since you are new the first year. Use it to learn and turn the ship around.

They could just have unreal expectations. It’s not an impossible job. Probably just need to learn to manage the competing priorities a bit better
It feels like I have reached the max of my capabilities, as no matter how much more effort I put in, I always fall short of partners’ or my own expectations.
I am now seriously considering of leaving strategy consulting for good and going back to where I came from, to put an end to this painful journey. Will it be a rash decision at this point, given that I am just 6 months in a new company/role? Shouldn’t I be expecting my situation improved by now in this new role?
