Move dilemma:
Currently @ Arthur D. Little Limited Dubai as SE Manager w/ base comp of 285k $ + 10-15% bonus. Vert limited fit w/ people & projects in the region (MEI) & not motivated by seniors. Not happy w/ the job but good WLB. Very likely to promote to Pr which would include a 20-30% jump in total comp but shift to more variable
Move to MBB as PL. Projects & people are supposed to be great and he could see himself in the long run. Comp is 170k $ + 60% bonus. Will take 1.5y to move to Pr

Well, it sounds like IN SPITE of being laid off, you were INSPIRED
Peyton manning was cut by Indianapolis and went on to win a superbowl with the broncos. Just look at sports for examples of superstars that get cut but make it big elsewhere, because they were superstars anyway.

I like the spirit but not sure if PwC1 just had spinal fusion surgery and was about to have 30M guaranteed. I also doubt PwC has Andrew luck on payroll
Man, I would have just completely forgotten about it after getting my first paycheck from the new company while still getting severance from the old one.
Focus on revenge instead of shame? Become successful enough to influence or buy consulting and/or accounting work, become a net detractor of your former firm, waste their time on RFPs and refuse to work with them for BS reasons like they did to you.
That sounds motivating 🤪🤪

All completely transactional and financials based. If they didn’t explicitly fire you for performance reasons, do not make it personal. It’s not you, it’s them.
Also, you’re in a new place. New opportunities to make a new network and make an impact.
It is Covid times; even if the firm valued you, a million things based in their equations for cost cutting could’ve led to your layoff. Simply futile to dwell on it.
If it is any consolation I doubt they value any of us in consulting, we’re just a number on a spreadsheet. For all you know you were getting paid more than others or they threw a bunch of names into a hat and chose.
What were you doing before and what do you do now?
Not sure if you are in the early part of your career or more seasoned but what I can say is getting layoff is pretty the nature of the beast for working at a firm. I wouldn’t take it personally. What’s more important is how you recover and it’s seems you did just fine.
10 years! You’re a career teen :).
I’ve been laid off after being more senior in my career....in fact 2x......and always ended up in a better spot. Did my ego get bruised yeah...but I don’t think twice about it anymore.
