No gonna lie, you might be asking too much coming from audit
Yea I would guess you’d get $90-$95k with your experience. They usually increase for leaving as a senior
You are not going to get $150K exiting as an audit associate
Where do you live?
Typical exit for an audit associate is probably going to be somewhere in the $80K range. $100K is feasible if applying for a highly challenging/competitive position that probably comes with demanding expectations in terms of hours, competency, responsibility, or all three
$110K is pushing the boundary but probably possible if you’re both applying for a highly challenging/competitive position and also live in HCOL
Asking way too much comp
$110k good? I’m looking at a Finalcusl Analyst Poisition
You’re all tripping. It is possible, I interviewed for a position beginning of my second year with Big4 and the company was willing to go $130k. Author- don’t listen to these people.
Valuations with an IB firm would be the definition of a highly competitive and challenging jump from audit that would come with demanding hours and expectations. OP has been talking about what sounds like a generic FP&A role in industry. In which case they’re going to struggle to find that kind of pay
Cool
Asked too much and for a highly desired exit opportunity with intense competition.
Probably have a better chance if you go out there and actively applying for job postings.
Yes I am applying for positions myself. I know I’m getting around $110k I just wanted to see what the responses would be and if were at all possible. (Maybe at a dreadful venture capital).
What do you think I should be making as a Financial Analyst with my experience?
We have a bunch of accounting advisory roles open at our company that pay close to that. Where are you located?
Forsure!
My background is similar to yours. Did 2 years at pwc in audit and pivoted out to internal strategy at a PE firm. Also interviewed for a variety of jobs that were not accounting. My base is about 105k + bonus + equity. You can definitely get into the 110k base area in a HCOL area but as others were saying 150k seems unlikely. Happy to provide any additional insight if helpful.
My audit clients were PE related so I had a little background. My firm initially thought I would focus on helping finance teams so having a accounting background in this case helped. This was the only internal strat job I was able to get an interview for so there was definitely luck involved. Don’t think these type jobs are always on LinkedIn or indeed so you may want to talk to recruiters. if this is what you want keep pushing for it!
you'll be in the very high upper range for your experience if you get 110k base. Might be better to stick it out to get a year as a senior under your belt and even better if you can get your cpa with it
I’ve been seeing 100-160k for senior accountant in NYC. Not sure why 120-150 would be impossible. 3 busy seasons is Senior associate level.
