Depending where you go, IR can be tough as a lot of it is not in your control. For instance, the market is pulling out of China so if you work for a Chinese focused fund you'll be screwed right now and it's not your fault at all. In other instances, it can be great to no credit of you. It is mostly a sales role, but I'd say it is 50/50 sales and crisis management.

Keep an eye out for macro environments, right now cash is king so raising capital is extremely difficult and pension funds are generally fully funded so they are pulling out of more risky funds which make it difficult for those IR guys.

Feel free to DM to talk more, I work with a lot of the IR teams across my platform

It depends on so many factors - particularly the size of firm and public vs private. I’m at a smaller private shop and do pretty much everything from reporting/dealing with investor concerns, marketing and capital raises/structuring. The money is in capital raising - but you need a solid network. Like the previous person said, you’re at the mercy of a lot of factors you have no control over, like the general economy and capital markets. Those are easy to explain to pissy investors, what’s bad/harder is when the firm makes faulty decisions - you’re on the front line dealing with it. I make 200K base and bonus can be anywhere from 30K to 300K. Associates range 80-100K at my shop

At my firm investor relations doesn’t do any sales- investors are handed to us after they’ve been closed on and the IR team handles onboarding, reporting, customer service, compliance, creating decks, etc.
I’m around 80k plus bonus as an analyst.

First post, not sure if this is the best bowl to use but here goes. I’m wondering if anyone can share a bit about their experience working at MongoDB. I have seen they are hiring for many roles and am curious to hear about their experience. In particular, I would like to hear about software engineer roles. Currently I work on database engine C++ code and have seen some roles that indicate continuing down this stream would be possible with my skillset.

Assessing whether I’m being compensated fairly after being passed over for pay raise request. Every BD in the US got a raise. 5 years of experience as a BD. I am now the only person managing BD for the whole of Canada for several service lines. US based finance related company. I report to one manager & the CEO. No commission, just salary and bonus. Been here for almost 2 years and we’ve doubled employees and are opening multiple offices. What would the appropriate compensation be for my role?

Hey folks, I'm getting an offer as a SC in EY UK. Presently I'm a manager with EY India (up for SM next yr Oct 2021). Comp is 55k range (haven't officially received the figure, a few more days it's expected, doing some homework before that).

I'll be moving with family. Wife may not immediately start working (,find a new job, we have a toddler daughter as well 2 YO).

I personally don't find this offer commercially attractive. Can someone offer some counter arguments?
