I think it varies but stronger performers tend to have a stronger drive and more ambition so they are more likely to do things that increases their optics with management. Perception matters.
And with my good people I could really not care less if they do these things, but they never seem to even try.
My strongest performers care about the big picture too (i.e. going the extra mile to see the project succeed), rather than just their own personal development.
My mediocre performers are always early and strong ones are not late but not first too to fly. Mediocre ones are bringing coming early to the table but the Stronger one have more to offer. Infact my stronger ones take more holidays as they are not afraid of being replaced.
Agree. Staff who travel onsite earlier tend to be the strongest performers who are willing to go the extra mile to see the project succeed.
What A1 said. "Weak" performers may be good at the job, but I've seen some who just don't care to play the game and get dinged for it. It's an attitude thing
I don't think it has anything to do with the project succeeding. That's secondary.
D1 this is about what I would expect.
Strong performers are there early, and stay till the work is done. They aren't sauntering in a 9am from the hotel gym.
Strong performers are the ones who get shit done. I dont care what time they come in or leave. I see some fools here tagging "playing the game" as a barometer for performance. No wonder we have so much turnover cause good people actually driven by work see politics as a factor for success and leave.
Ey1 it's so interesting. I have felt it's gotten very political here. I don't really see arriving early as politics though I see it more as respectful of the team.
Arriving and leaving is all subjective to destination city, family expectations, etc. If someone arrives late ans leaves early but goes back and works or works in flight?
