What will the project dynamics be on a project staffed with 3mdps, a PL, and myself, a summer UG intern? Just got staffed and will be hearing more on Monday from the team, but it came across as an interesting staffing composition.
Have the feeling I'll be making quite a few slides as the only junior. Anyone staffed on a similar case composition?

Doing something other than Mck will be a big boon to your resume. Career consultants applying to top MBAs are a dime a dozen.
That said, would encourage you think more deeply about the role of an MBA in your life. Bad idea IMO to make big life decisions trying to solve for MBA placement.
I don't think so. Top MBAs actually value out-of-the-beaten-path career progression, and this would set you apart from the avg bunch imo. Only downside I see from the move is financing a $$$$ MBA yourself via an emerging mkt currency (while Mck usually sponsors).
How do you get such an opportunity and what region?
Why are you trying to get an MBA? Stay with McK and exit in a few years when the job market is in your favor. Maybe study something like applied AI while working - more fruitful long term
OP has PE MF dreams for sure
You have higher chances to get a MBA by staying at McKinsey...
I would go to the fund only if it is 3rd year out...
What is your current tenure at the firm? If you have at least 2 years as BA and spend maybe 1-2 years at the fund, that should give you a strong work experience to stand out for competitive HSW MBA admissions. That said, you would lose out on firm sponsorship for MBA (unless you are going to the fund only for a secondment and planning to return before MBA). Another point to consider is your visa status and how complicated it would be to get a student visa when you want to come back!
Thanks! I’m almost 3 years in McK, promoted once to BA (this region has 1 level before BA). Yes I’ll lose my MBA sponsorship from McK, but there’s a good chance to get a govt scholarship for this.
Can you elaborate more on the visa part?
