This sounds like an issue specific to your company policies. I would think that if the holdings are not restricted, that you can sell them any time but maybe a question to ask in your company bowl or to review your company trading policy.
Oh! I think you may have a typo. You mean, “now” they’re restricted? That would make more sense.
I dealt with it before. I sold immediately and just took the loss. EY does not mess around with independence. The losses hurt but I figured I could only make it up if I had a job.
Reach out to independence. It may be restricted but could be permissible depending on his role. It’s not worth getting financial sanctions.
