Comparison really is the thief of joy. I can tell you so many of my friends who dont have debt, don’t have a lot of expenses (parents pay) etc, and they are still unhappy with their savings levels, appearance, relationship status and whatnot. There will always be people who make more money, have a nicer car etc. Keep your head up, you’re doing great OP!
Chin up. You will get there. I started at 22 as an immigrant alone, at a 32k salary and had no financial help from parents. In fact always knew that I would have to support my parents and make it on my own. Now 39 with a 145k salary but 2million in net worth. It may or may not be much - but it’s enough for me cause that was my goal.
My friends always made more than me as consultants etc.
but I Set your my own goal which was one child, happy family, debt free by 40, 2 mil in retirement saving and a college fund for my child. I got there and now I work because it gives me joy. (Money/ salary helps stay motivated)
Good for you!! Amazing!

Find your own realistic goals and track to those. You’ll never win keeping up with the Jones’s - I know easier said then done.
Develop a plan and stay the course. Prioritize savings and making sound investments. You’ll make up ground.
I know it’s not sexy, and you’ll hear the alluring story of a friend of a friend that made 50x on an investment, but just realize for every story like that there are 100s that go untold.
Don't compare!
I made 0 dollars in 2018
I made 30k in 2019
And I'll make around 200k this year.
A lot can change.
Figure out what your values are, try to live them each day, try not to do dumb things and the rest will take care of itself
Awesome!!!!
Invest in yourself. Pursue promotion opportunities aggressively or change firms. I felt similarly disheartened until I got a good salary.
If you keep comparing yourself with people better than you/look more successful, you'll always feel that you're behind. Most people also only showing their highlights instead of their suffering. So don't compare yourself with others because they might look happy / successful but in reality they might not.
Truth. No one ever posts the bad times. “Dang, lights have been shut off again” lol
As someone who paid off my student loans and had very little financial help from parents, I promise you that when you start hitting your goals it will be the sweetest of victories. I remember the day I made my last student loan payment. It was glorious!! Such a relief and I was so proud to have met my goal to pay them off as quickly as I did. Now, as I watch my investment balances grow, I know that I have done that on my own and am so proud.
There is power in building it yourself. 👊🏻
Different paths... no one’s path is the same. I agree with a lot of what has already been said. Focus on what works best for you and be encouraged! You actually worked for your financial goals rather just receiving a free handout!
Focus on yourself, not others. Everyone is fighting their own battles with something. Make a feasible plan with your financial goals so you can track your own success. You'll get to where you need to be eventually if you're smart with your money and career options.
