I hear you but I have a different take on this one.
I think this is Amazon doing due diligence so that ppl don’t abuse the remote work policy with false disability claims. Take my company for example. We’re loose on our medical leave policies. Right now, we have multiple employees on leave after getting tough-but-fair performance reviews. This creates extra burden for teammates, and is just plain dishonest.
My POV is…vetting policies are sometimes needed to prevent bad actors. I certainly wish my company was a bit more thorough with things like this…
