Question, how did you break into a VP level in HR position? What set you apart from other candidates that the company selected you?

I’m an industry senior, manager is retiring in 2 months & new tax director is joining this week. Have been at company for 15 months. Considering talking to HR & new director for a plan to grow my career at this company; company is growing & likely we will need 2 more ppl at associate/senior levels (we have 1 associate). What is a realistic time frame to set for promotion to manager & what goals should I be setting? Company is tiered partnership, acquiring new businesses & operates multi-state.

Just had my first experience interviewing with a PE ops team; case interview was lead by a junior employee who hadn't bothered to review a resume & very clearly had not been taught how to lead a case interview.

Have other PE opportunities, so second guessing if this is the right exit path. Is this typical of what to expect with the larger funds that have consulting/portfolio ops. teams? Anyone have a similar experience?

Anyone have a good “roles and responsibilities” or SOP they could share? My old firm had a document that went to the nitty gritty (e.g. “assistant will ocr all incoming filings and discovery responses and save in [proper folder]; paralegal will log all incoming discovery and save to [proper folder], and draft all shells [saved in proper folder], and TOCs/TOAs; junior associate…; senior associate... etc”) & I’m trying to find a balance between that and the one-pager my team currently has.

I find myself looking for a new role in agency / production company biz dev. I co-founded a creative production agency back in 2010. Grew it to a staff of 80 FTE, creating strategic content-driven campaigns for brands, tv networks, streamers, platforms, publishers etc. We developed and produced original TV as well. Around 2016 we positioned the company for sale and then sold in Jan 2019. After going over to the acquirer in 2020, I’m now free for the first time in a long time. What to do?
