Thanks everyone... So summary if I want to maximize redemption values go AA, if I want to like my life go Delta.
Delta
Curious - why do you think EWR is too far? Getting to JFK or LGA in traffic can take just as long as getting to Newark.
Live in LIC, so 20-30 minutes from LGA and JFK vs 50 minutes to EWR
American if you’re focused on redemption value and upgrades. Also, Ben & Jerry’s ice cream sundaes
Since you mentioned redemption, United also wins in this category. Choose wisely
With the removal of award charts, looks like they're headed towards Delta territory
Delta. Transfer Amex MR points to British Airways for AA redemptions
I fly United from LGA, occasionally EWR, but live on the east side. Connect a ton, but it's not impossible if you want to stay with United.
Delta has crappiest points, but I have thoroughly enjoyed every Delta experience. Well, compared to other airlines lol.
I fly almost exclusively AA anyway because all that matters is schedule to me
Hands down delta. I’ve had to do nyc->phx for a couple months now so matched to exec plat. Even with that and paid first, everything about the experience is inferior to delta. AA boasts better food in first, and better points redemption. Other than that? Fly delta so you don’t hate life
Delta customer service is better. They also tend to break more rules for you if you have status. But the above comments are right. The first class on American is superior to that of Delta
Yes, for somebody who doesn’t seem to understand NYC geography... EWR and LGA are equidistant (time wise) basically any time besides dead of night. LGA traffic is horrendous.
You can go nonstop basically anywhere from EWR. LGA blows cock between delays and 3rd world terminals. Your options are EWR and JFK for real flights- and JFK is marginally farther than EWR
Delta!
Delta is just by far the best of those three airlines. As others have said though, not the best redemption, but you won’t even notice because things just go so much more smoothly with them. Google what just happened this weekend when AA abandoned some students and Delta took them in. Exhibit A.
