Pay at MBB isn't negotiable below partner level. They are probably asking more from a process standpoint. Base and bonus/profit sharing for general consulting staff at C1 is about 200-210k and at manager it is closer to 275-300k. Couldn't tell you for Digital or Mck Solutions but they're probably 30% less. So I think you will see a bump.
Btw - not all ACN MBA strats come in at $145 - it depends on city and past experience. I came in as a manager at $165 in a small Midwest city (not Chicago) but it was because of my past experience and clinical degree. A friend in NYC came in as a consultant at $120K and he had robotics engineering experience. Makes no sense. And this was all in last year.
Whatever the top tier salary band is for the C level at that MBB. Also what practice are you in at ACN? 110k for a manager seems low...
Must be CDO , waiting to hear from OP.
MC...This why I'm uncomfortable sharing my current salary 🙄
Don't then. Just Google the high range for that firm and tell them that's your target and negotiate from there
Many times they come back because they've spent so much time and energy with you already.
It's all online. ACN Strat MBAs come in at $145k, so MBB should be around $150k since we're usually a little lower.
I think they pay the same amount to non-MBAs, thus the statement above. Could be wrong.
Is it the standard Consultant/Associate role? To my knowledge the salaries are fairly standardized, at least within a range. Go to management consulted to at least see the starting MBA salaries and go from there depending on whether you will get tenure credit, etc. try not disclosing and just saying what you are looking for; if they push just provide it, and make sure it's clear that you have been there a while and salaries differ by region
I can't really imagine making the change for less than 150 base especially given the additional hours I'll work and cost of living in NYC
$150 to $160 is the range you should get, I wouldn't accept less because then you are basically at the level of an MBA hire.
Agree but should I just refuse to disclose my current salary?
Yeah just deflect them and keep saying your target is 160
A lot of places ask, but they don't always base your offer on what ur making. MBB likely won't.
To avoid it, simply state what ur looking for and they'll likely not ask. If they still do, u can tell them but from my experience, the inhouse recruiters won't try and base it on your current salary.
MBB is awesome, they'll throw in all this stuff for you. Relocation is common with just about any firm
Offer will include relocation for sure, I got $10K reimbursable
OP, did they recruit you or did you apply?
Wow acn4, that's weird. Good for u tho haha
So you're very confident firm will make an offer before you've had the final round...?
Yes.
Holy shit, the internet is telling me that cost of living is 41% higher in NYC than in Chicago. I really shouldn't go for less than 160. With almost 6 years of directly relevant background (but MBA) am I greedy or out of line to ask 170? I know MBA is normally 150 but cmon 41% is a big change
