Currently at one of the Big 3 Japanese banks (MUFG, Mizuho, SMBC) in debt capital markets and might have an opportunity to join the Capital Markets team at Wells Fargo (all in London). What are the thoughts reputationally on WF vs the Japanese banks in EMEA? Also if anyone has any insight into promotions (ability to go up the ranks faster in WF) and salary what would be super helpful! Wells Fargo Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc.

Unfortunately for me, googling didn’t really help. Pictures don’t do justice to places and every neighbourhood is so different that you need to walk the streets your self.
My recommendation is to set aside 4-7 days and see as many places as you can. Bidding for rental places can be very competitive, so you can’t count on your first pick.
A bunch of new luxury tower blocks have popped up around Aldgate, Poplar & Canary Wharf in the last few years that offer fancy style with a short commute if you want that. Being east means that if you swap to a firm in the wharf means the travel won’t suck.
Focus on travel time!! And live either in or around London Bridge or north of the river

Aldgate is a good shout if you’re by tower bridge.
Findproperly is a great website I used which sorts by commute time, not distance. You can use it to find a whole lot of new areas. There are loads of places which look really far on the map but the trains go to London bridge really quickly, meaning the commute is a higher quality too.
Rightmove have a tool that shows you all the areas/properties based on your desired commute to a specific location. It’s quite useful as it factors in how you want to be travelling too
Shoreditch or Horton if your a hipster. Notting hill, south ken, Bayswater if you’re more of a conventional banker type
Horton = Hoxton
Shoreditch 🙌🏼
