My agency has "Flexible" PTO, basically a way to avoid calling it unlimited. How much time off is appropriate at your agencies?

We have a PTO bucket so sick time and other excused absences are already included...works out to be about five weeks a year. Then at five years you get an additional year. Six weeks total. But...typically agencies without a bucket are two to three weeks vacay when you start. Another week after five years. Max five weeks.

I got 4 wks paid vacation plus sick and other time when I started this was years ago ought to be more now. 1 extra week for every 2yrs. No max

Following up with the caveat that I took significantly more time off Pre pandemic. At least 4 weeks a year, not counting time off the week of Christmas. In 2020 it was half that, getting better since then

We have unlimited. 5 years ago we learned most don't take more than 20 days off. My team on average takes 20-25 days (true PTO, not including sick days or appointments/life issues like unexpected car trouble or family emergencies which don't really get documented or accounted for anywhere).

What is the biggest misconception you’ve had to deal with/overcome in advertising?

I’m an analyst & have been working towards associate – I was recently offered an associate role on a different team, but simultaneously am feeling burned out and thinking of leaving the firm within the next 6-8 months to work at a smaller company. I want to accept the associate role for my own professional development and growth. Tips on leaving a role after 6 months without burning bridges? Is that possible? I feel somewhat guilty about leaving my team, but know I have to prioritize my career

Best place to get pre-qualified for a mortgage?

I have some collections on my credit report. One from an electric company for $800 (imo they violated terms of contract and sent me to collections in spite of their fuck up), and an apartment for $80~ that charged me a cleaning fee when my apartment was spotless.

Despite these two collections have a 712-720 credit score.

So mortgage lenders care at all about the collections or is it mostly the credit score that matters?

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

I work for a small agency and manage our internal marketing acct. We had very few processes in place when I started. I’ve since created, implemented, and trained our dept. on project mgmt for clients and am trying to convince the owner to apply those principles to our internal jobs. They are resistant because they just want the work to be done and don’t “want to keep spending money on internal jobs”. I’m confused because we’re doing the work either way and “spending” in labor/resources.

Right so here’s a bit of a dilemma I work to a much higher standard at home and it’s this high standard that means I’m in line for a promotion. I’ve grown so much and I feel really strong in my role I’m also busier than ever. The problem is we’re going back into the office and I don’t want to go in if it’s just going to be senior management in asking me to get them lunches for client meetings or fetch a glass of water and cutlery for meeting rooms. Definitely not ready to go back to that….

What are some good practices during the sales phase of a potential project to execute before the contract is signed? Seems obvious but would love some ideas on standard operating procedures that help with seamlessly handing over a signed contract to the account team. For example, speaking to the potential client explicitly about their role in staying on schedule, reviewing scope creep consequences, etc.
