Accepting an offer in IBD, lateraling over from consulting. Opportunity of a lifetime for me so don’t want to lose it.
But timing is horrible. I joined the Army Reserves before this opportunity was on my radar. Interviewed over several months, got the offer, but shipping out in 1 month for training for 6 months.
Do I irreversibly shoot my career by joining and immediately going on LoA? I obviously haven’t mentioned it in the interview process. Or will this be forgotten a couple years in?

I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. Bit of a niche topic: I’ve been in TS/SCI processing for a Science/Tech/Weapons analyst position with the CIA for 3 yrs since I finished grad school in chemistry, but CIA positions are sort of set it and forget it since they can take so long.
