I interviewed interns and campus hires at EY for 4 years. And specifically for tech consulting.
Here are a couple of my tips-
1. Don’t get nervous, and be confident when speaking. The interview will try testing you how you react to being challenged.
2. Follow the STAR methodology for answering behavioral answers. Do not blabber when asked about your previous experiences, as you’ll lose the interviewer. Keeping it structured is very useful for helping put your point across. Also have a few stories prepared, do not just focus on one type of experiences e.g. sports. Have a varied experiences like your academic group projects, previous internships, your own pet projects.
3. Tech consulting means you need to showcase tech skills. Have your string projects listed on resume and be ready to speak to the background, methodology of how you solved it, challenges faced and conclusions.
4. Do not jump to answers during case studies. Take your time to review notes, take a breath and gather your thoughts before answer. It’s easy to start answering due to nervousness during case study round.
5. Read up on EY culture and values. It’s good to showcase values like leadership and teamwork in your answers.
All the best!
Yw! Feel free to reach out in case of any other questions!
Campus hire? They only care if you’re smart. Tell him to relax and trust his instincts. That’s how I got in.
Tech consulting not EYP? he/she can relax reallt bar is pretty low at Big4s.
Lmao I’m here for the self-deprecation, PwC 1
I do those interviews sometimes. Demonstrate that you can apply critical thinking to the problem asked (no need to go overly technical) and you're fine. We are looking for signs of critical thinking, which makes sense given its consulting. Everyone being interviewed has good grades and is personable - show you can do more than regurgitate from a book and you're in.
Ahh this is super helpful I’ll let him know!! Should he be expecting a super technical case that involves numbers?
