My CMO was introducing me to her boss recently and made a point to say that in the future I will be "leveraging AI to tailor the copy based on channel"... I know this is a big topic in terms of AI replacing copywriters, but should I be worried that it's happening sooner rather than later for me based on this comment? How are we combatting this? Are we switching careers? help.

What your CMO should worry about is that C-suites have such a hard-on to cut employee overhead and increase profit margins as quickly as possible that they’re willfully ignoring the OBVIOUS limitations of current AI copy systems and will be shooting themselves in the face as a result.

Fully-competent AI won’t be at the level it needs to be for another 5 years.

In the meantime though I’m already investigating going back to school for a complete career change to something in health care.

Just like PPT and canva make it possible for everyone to be a “designer” doesn’t mean designers have been eliminated. The good ones stand out even more and command more $ because of their skills. Same for copy.

Not over - just changing. My advice is to use this time to your advantage. Leverage it to become better, to build faster, and think higher level. The strategists will thrive. That has already happened in graphic and UX design

Ya sorry it’s over soon. Like nobody should go to school for advertising

Strategy.

The last brief I got felt like it was written by AI. Literally the laziest garbage I’ve ever read. No help whatsoever. Maybe I should pivot as well?

I can really use some direction. My background, I've worked 2 years in strategy and am currently coming off an exhausting year 2 in investment banking. I didn't particularly enjoy either role and am not interested in moving over to the buy-side or some monotonous FP&A role. Everybody says there's exit-ops aplenty, but I find myself with less options and even more picky than I did as an ambitious T2 undergrad student. Where do I go from here?

Young solo here w/ a question about fees: 1. A local solo criminal defense attorney has offered to pay me to go and make appearances before the Court on some of her cases to make announcements. (For example, “ready when reached”). I’m open to doing this and this attorney is asking what my fee would be? Does anyone have thoughts or opinions on what a reasonable fee would be to do something like this? Hourly? Flat Fee? 2. I want to ensure this is ethical. I don’t see an issue with this. Thoughts?

RANT: People re-writing a cw’s stuff has always been painful. These days it’s far more common than when I started. It’d be one thing if they upgraded the work. If I learned from it. If I genuinely seethed with envy over their wit w/that perfectly placed semi-colon. People can’t re-art direct stuff bc they don’t know the programs so they ask the ADs for changes. Word and a keyboard made everyone think they can write. Which they can’t. Google Slides is Google slip ‘n slide into (bad ref. here.)
