I think it is most vital and relevant to ask your manager what training will help you.
Have you gotten any feedback previously? Do you need to improve your soft skills or technical capabilities?
There are limitless areas you can develop yourself in e.g. leading people, leading self, effective and assertive communication, business acumen etc...
It's just a matter of business needs primarily and your needs in general.... Perhaps, more information will help tailor the advice..
Are they paying for these courses, and if so, what’s the budget? And how big is your company?
With 20k employees, look at internal options that may be available. $5k is good for a leadership conference of some sort. You can look into IIA and ISACA training and conferences. Combine that with LinkedIn Learning (often free through a local library), and you can come up with a plan.
However, before going through all of that, I think you need to better understand what they exactly meant when they told you this in the first place, and then seek alignment with that person on your plan, and get a sense of whether they think it will help you with your promotion.
Leadership isn’t really one size fits all.
However, if you read “the go giver” you can take those traits and spread them across all forms of leadership. It’s an incredible easy and fast read but it’s worth it’s weight in gold.
