It seems like they believe in you and want you to stay

likesmart

Nah, it may be a benefit to you ultimately bc you have more time to make partner

like

Agree with A1.

Also, being a senior associate or counsel is often a better gig, depending on where you are in life/your goals. There’s not as much pressure to develop business. You get more employee-type benefits, like health insurance and parental leave.

You want to be partner track, but not under pressure to apply for partner before you’re ready.

So they’re paying you like you’re a year more experienced?

like

If anything I think it’s encouraging; they’re paying you for the experience while simultaneously giving you an extra year of runway to make your case for partnership.

But your explanations here make sense. Thank you all. I didn’t think of it that way.

Why don’t you explain to us why you think you should be salty? Because we are all confused

like

See above. I think it’s more so just that I’ve been practicing for x years, but they only gave me credit for y years. Delayed partner track, too.

This is a win.

I have a in person(online, 4 hours - 4 people) technical interview coming up and I have been practicing my coding for the past 3 weeks. The only thought I've been having is "what if I can't solve the coding question?" I am still fairly new to the software engineer scene and the position is for a level 1 software engineer.
Does it essentially end my chances if at any point I can't solve the question? I mean I will definitely attempt to talk it through, ask question, but no progress in code. 🤷

I currently have my EAD based on my OPT with an addition 2 year renewal. I have also submitted a marriage based GC application in Nov 2021, did my biometrics currently waiting on my interview. I have an offer from a tech company and want to leave my current employer. I am worried if I tell my upcoming employer about being currently on OPT they will freak out and take back their offer even doh I can work and don’t need their sponsorship.

Do I have to tell ? Has anyone experience this before?

It is in appropriate to ask what the compensation for a position is after a first interview if they want you to go on three more and the interviewers on my first told me that was above their pay grade to tell me?????

Seems kind of ridiculous for a business to want to waste so much time to find out after a handful of interviews that the pay isnt aligned with my needs ......

I can see in biglaw not bringing up knowing damn well if you get an offer itll likely be high, but this is a midsize
