Don't ever divulge that information during the interview, you're just giving them one more reason to reject you. In fact don't ever divulge that information ever, it's your business and no one else's. No one needs to know about your health issues until it impacts your time at work.
IMO … It’s not relevant to her ability to do the job. She isn’t legally obligated to share any of this. However, she may want to pre negotiate time off for the surgery due to a “pre scheduled personal matter”. I would imagine that if she needs extended time off she would have to file for FMLA.
I feel badly she has cancer and hope she recovers soon. But not gonna lie, if she is constantly out of work, need special arrangements, can’t do her job etc then IMO it’s kind of a turd move on the new manager and company. Most people are reasonable and think if Suzy is a great employee, she’s been here for a few years, and now needs flexibility due to her diagnosis… heck yes we want to happily support Suzy.
Maybe I’m in the minority but if you want all of this from say week 3 onwards it’s not cool for the new manager/team. It may be legal but it’s not cool to want special treatment and not pull your weight.
Agreed. Do not share that info.
