My Husband always runs out of the house and tells me he is running away by leaving behind his phone watch wallet car keys everything. This happened once where he just ran away one night and i had a huge difficulty finding him and somehow managed to find him. Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.
