Random thought... My gay male context plus the pandemic has amplified the "this isn't worth it" view of my unbalanced work life balance. I am never going to have kids and don't need to keep grinding for the next promotion etc. like my head of household peers with children. Do you feel the non-traditional household / income demands that LGBTQIA+ we live with are making you more easily say "enough is enough" with work as the valuation of our time has increased during the pandemic? 🤔

I have a 6 month old, and I am 6.5 years out from law school. I would like to start trying to have another kid at the end of this year but feel if I wait a couple of more years to switch firms, no one will consider me since I'll be 8.5-9 years out and trying to break into a new practice area. I am going on 36.5 years old. I don't want to leave now and tell any that I am pregnant within the first year but I also don't want to leave immediately after I return from maternity leave. My bf took a guys trip to Caribbean to celebrate a good friend of 20+ year’s milestone bday. The friend’s bday is the day before mine. Normally bf and I trip for my bday over the holiday weekend. So my fiancé and I are having a microwedding in Rocky Mountain National Park next year, and we’re working with an elopement planner.
She sent over a sample ceremony (intro, sweet poems + passages to be read, and example vows), and we read through it last night. I was reading it out loud while my fiancé made dinner, and it just hit me that this is really happening. Rant: Told my mom yesterday not to play with the baby at the diaper changing table. Notice etiquete question. If you give your 2 weeks’ notice on a Monday, is your last day a Monday (2 weeks later) or can it be the previous Friday? Does your answer change depending on the time (morning/ afternoon) notice is given?
