Why is everyone giving the male, who DIDNT get the job, that kind of power? I would have a little chat with the new director to ask for some guidance on continued approach to this new workplace dynamic that has been going on. Maybe they’ll have some good input… and also know you’re on board with moving forward and supporting the change.
As a woman who “got the job” over a male competitor, I would go to the skip level boss to advocate silently on behalf of the woman. I endured 2 years of bullying when I decided to ignore the mediocre man who didn’t get my job. So I’m gonna stand up when I see it happening to someone else
You may have a few more issues to tackle than office politics. If this was your company and saw this behavior what would you do?

Thank you all, I did end up going to employee relations to voice my concerns and need of support, wasn't offered much guidance yet, but they want to follow up with a few layers of management and get back to me with guidance and next steps...
Go to management, not employee relations.
What is employee relations supposed to do? The bosses are the ones with power and can tell employees to quit acting like cliquey high school girls and start acting like adults that are expected to respect their bosses and do their jobs.
In our company the employee relations specialist have direct access to higher level managers who can actually do something
