He definitely needs to be reported, that is scary I’m so sorry!

Man gropes my wife and getting kicked out of an event would be the least of his concerns.
FAFO. Report him.

What’s FAFO?
I don't want someone like that in our country to keep assaulting our wives, sisters, or daughters. If they did it (4 times?) they will almost certainly do it again
If he gets away with it he’ll do it again.
You owe it to future victims to end this

YES
It’s a cultural thing
Gets a DEI pass
If he did this to at least four women at a public event where his wife was present, imagine what he's been doing for years and will do in the future in other environments.
It's not your problem if he gets deported. Although I don't think that's much a of punishment; he should be in jail.
This is so insane. FOUR women?!? At an academic event?!? This man deserves to be caught now before it goes much further. If this is what he’d do in a group setting, I can’t imagine being alone in a room with him. Terrifying honestly. And the wife trying to protect him is beyond screwed up.

People in relationships with bad people often cover for them as a self-protection measure. It’s so messed up.
Not her choice, it would be the choice of the victims. They were violated, and have every right. He has to face consequences of his actions.
First of all, kudos to your wife for speaking up! That takes guts and I hope she’s proud of herself.
Second of all, you might be doing the creep’s wife a favor. It this is what he does in public either strangers, imagine what he gets up to at home.
Thirdly, this dude deserves a record. Even if he doesn’t get kicked out - which is likely since SA is often hard to prosecute - he’ll have a written record. So when he does this again (he will) the consequences will actually hit.

This 100%. Start a paper trail.

If this happened to my wife, the guy wouldn’t have even made it to his car.

Press charges. Letting it slide is exactly what keeps them doing this shit

If a man did that to my wife…being thrown out of the country should be the least of his concerns. 😤

So here’s the update: it now turns out that he did this to 6 girls at that event and one at a previous event. They will be going together to file a police report tomorrow morning.
We are in a European country and the laws are quite harsh around this issue. The guy is a physician from a non-European country and his wife is a full-time grad student. Things don’t look good for them, unfortunately.
Not a bad idea
He’ll repeat this if he gets away with it.
Groping now, what’s his next move.
Groping was not his end game, his behavior will escalate as much as he can get away with.
Agreed, also who knows if he has done worse and has other victims. I would also consider filing for a restraining order on the side to get a chess piece moving along in another lane.
Kick him out of the country before he does it again. I’m sure groping isn’t the worst thing he’s done before
Why is this even a question? Unfortunate for her if he gets deported but natural consequence for his behavior. Four times with 4 different women at one even? That's pretty brash and bold. He needs to not be here. Not the wife's fault, but families also pay the consequences for crimes committed by other family members. Why does she even want to be with a person like that? She needs a little more self-respect and a little more outrage towards him.
