Hello Sharks, I recently gave interview of Tiger Analytics and after all successful technical discussion, they were offering me Senior analytics - data Science role for 15.5 fixed + 2L jb, considering my current yoe 4.3 and in data science relevant is not much(consider it 1.5+) but my cctc is 14(13fixed+1 variable), I denied to accept this offer. Should I reconsider that?
I was in the final stages of an interview with Microsoft two weeks ago, in partner marketing. Then the recruiter told me they were putting the hiring process on hold to assess the need for the role. Well, then we heard about Microsoft layoffs last week. Seems like most were in Xbox and Project Alpha but there’s not a lot of information out there. Should I hold out any hope that I’m going to get this job? Any insights on how much these layoffs have impacted the marketing org and/or new hiring?

Interesting! I always feel like I sound like a robot whether I try to or not. Maybe it’s just a funny self evaluation though.

If it’s a job that you actually want, I don’t know how you wouldn’t show enthusiasm. I think that’s what it comes down to, if you really want the role, you’d be willing to lie on the sword for it, and the recruiter can tell, even if it’s a virtual interview or screening. For phone interviews, I’ve always stood up, motion creates emotion. If it’s a virtual interview, I’ve always acted like I’m going to the office for the day, so that’s go for a morning run, workout, shower, get suited up, and prep before the interview. Put your best foot forward.
I get that people are bogged down by the endless interviews and endless applications and it’s understandable. But if you’ve been fighting for an interview for the last 3 months, and you show up like a schlep, you just wasted an opportunity.
I would imagine enthusiasm would count for a lot. There are countless people who can learn the technical stuff. But you don't want a building full of competent people who are phoning it in. If you're doing interviews, it should never be difficult to marshal some enthusiastic energy. Just being alert and showing some personality should suffice. You needn't show up with a knife in your teeth (though I suppose some firms might find that desirable).
I’m going to go out on a limb and say the enthusiasm is probably the winner just because everyone at the interview already has the technical skills or experience to back that up. Showing you really want the job or are excited about it can make the difference. I’d just consider what that naturally looks like for you and embrace it.
Oh wow I had no idea that this statistic existed but honestly it does make sense. I think that may be part of the reason I have always landed roles that I was not qualified for was because of my attitude and always being overly excited to even be considered.
