You sound great! As long as you look like you know how to art direct yourself. Simple colors. Err in the side of Kinfolk etc.
Wear what you wear in la everyday. I’d rather feel like I’m hiring an interesting outsider. And for gods sake don’t wear a blazer
What’s wrong with a blazer? I love them, they look good on me and it’s clearly just part of my style.
Maybe bring a cardigan or blazer with you. It’s cold there so you might find having the extra layer keeps you more comfortable. If you get there and feel it’s too much just hang it with you stuff in the coat closet (those are a thing back east). If the front desk doesn’t show you where to hang your things, ask politely and I’m sure they will oblige.
that sounds fine to me, provided the collared shirt is classy.
Stay there
too late. already left.
Wow, creative life sounds way more chill.
thanks everyone!
Dress like you’re meeting a client
I wish it didn’t matter. I always have to dress down in interviews because my normal attire is “too dressy” for a creative. And I’m like “I’m sorry I’m an Art Director and like fashion???"
Mixed comments here. When I’m interviewing potentials, I tell them to dress in what they feel comfortable in. Unless that’s board shorts and flip flops. Then stick to the ‘black uniform’ - can’t go wrong with that.
