Does anyone run a business in addition to their firm? I’m a solo and I’m doing pretty well with about 60-70 billable hours a month. Though that leaves a lot of downtime. Guys, how are you? I'm looking for some help. I recently started working for a new company. I've been reaching out to managers, directors, seniors, and the Resource Manager since Day 1 in order to get placed on projects. When I get on a call today I find out that all of my coworkers who started with me have billable hours of at least 40 hours per week. Meanwhile, I have yet to reach that number of hours yet. So, what should I do now? I've literally done my part to get staffed in projects.

Currently a second-year associate at a regional firm. I have become really unhappy with the life-style at a firm and the constant stress of meeting my billable requirements. It was always my goal to go in-house, but I know I likely lack the requisite experience to make a move somewhere that can offer meaningful advancement. Any advice? I know it will likely be that I need to “stick it out” for a few more years, but I am just extremely dissatisfied with the prospect of being at a firm for years.

How do I evaluate this offer from a Series D startup? got an offer that looks like this: - Base: $150k-160k - Equity: 20k-15k options It’s my first startup offer so I find this a bit confusing/unusual. They said the combo depends on the base I choose. The ratio isn’t really one to one, so how do I know which combination in the range to choose? Also, can I still negotiate when they already set the range? Like more options for $160k base vs what they capped at 15k?
