Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Can anyone share their experience with an ESOP?

Find someone you think is overly confident in life and ask them for tips.
Generally just good advice there I think.
Everything I've learned has been on the fly. First time I did it, I just asked for 10% over what they offered. They came back at 5%. I snap accepted and felt like I'd totally gamed the system. Kind of hilarious looking back on.
For a first time negotiator that’s not a bad result!
They either give me what I asked for or they don’t. If it’s interview related I simply tell them I cannot work for an unlivable wage (was recently offered significantly less than I already make to switch from GP to ER lmao hell no, not if you’re not gonna give me emotional labor pay). And if it’s asking for a raise and they decline the it’s time to start job hunting and once I have a new job with a new start date, just stop showing up to the previous job. It’s the only way they learn to respect what the got.
Yeah put them in their place!
Research how much similar jobs are paying on LinkedIn and Glassdoor. Speak to recruiters and ask them how similar roles pay. You need to know what level of salary your experience and qualifications can command before you start salary negotiations.
Yeah I think the research will help a lot but I guess they also need to be receptive.
Ive learned most of it on the fly! Each experience gets easier
I guess it’s the easiest way to learn usually!
