7am
5:15 United,
Both are early as balls so the 45 mins isn’t really that different. I’d rather have a shot at an upgrade where I could sleep.
Also building toward status has value.
If it is a longer flight, I would do United. Rack up the status (I also almost refuse to fly alternative airlines though so I might be a crazy person).
United so you can get yourself an acceptable status level
If a carrier had a status that let you sleep 45 more minutes for all morning flights, would you say that would beat American gold status?
Southwest is just too stressful. You got to line up early and fight for seats. 5:15am probably means fewer ppl at TSA. United!
^ Lol now there is someone who’s never flown Southwest. Lining up early matters zilch since boarding position is set
6 am
With those options, I’d rather take a late Sunday night flight
OP standard is 30 mins
D1, the next direct flight leaves at 10:30am. While I do love that option, I'd probably take the early ones during the first few weeks.
I totally understand the value of points and status, but it is mentally hard to wake up at 3:30am vs 4:00am!
P1, as long as you are there when the A group is boarding. I've almost missed it a few times.
How early Southwest boards group A? 45 minutes? It's been a while since I flew with SW.
And if you’ll be flying southwest long enough / with business select fares, companion pass is pretty hard to beat as far as status goes
Take the United at 7AM 🤔
Is it the same departure airport for both?
Yes. Same departure and arrival airports
