Hello I got a confirmation from HR at Shell that I have been selected for a role and there will be background checks before joining the company. He said the mail will come from a 3rd party vendor for the background verification. It has been 1 week and there has been no mails till now. Is it normal? Should I follow up with the HR again?

Comms strategists are also popularly referred to as Connections Strategists. I think remembering this helps make the distinction clear.
Comms planners literally connect the pieces of the puzzle to create an appropriately unified campaign/brand ecosystem. So this means a comms planner focuses on media, channels, messaging, tactics (this would include helping creative add channel or audience specific nuance or informing measurement & optimization); making sure they all lead to whatever success looks like. Often this is driven by audience needstates and behavior
Brand strategists are more in charge of the brand narrative and developing creative guidance. I'd say that a brand strategist's responsibility declines as a project's lifespan continues whereas the comms strategists responsibility is much more long term.
In my opinion, you get more bang for your buck out of a *good* comms planner than a brand planner since comms output is more executional and you need to know some rules (ex social best practices) or principles (ex knowing that the reco of a "trusted source" is much more powerful than a celeb endorsement for new brands leading to the decision of UGC and influencers as a phase in the campaign over using a celeb in the spot), to effectively plan for channels and tactics.
and worst comes to worst: you can always use biz strat to inform creative (not that it's ideal) whereas you need a strong comms planner to see a campaign properly hit the ground and live. BUT IM BIASED BECAUSE IM A COMMS PLANNER.
Yes! I do comms planning but for a media agency. It’s done at creative agencies as well

I think every strategist should be able to pinch hit as a comms planner. It’s not really that hard to do it well enough, and understanding media from a human perspective is not really optional in today’s world.
Anyone who is smart enough to actually make it as a brand strategist can definitely do the comms planning. Converse hasn’t been true in my experience.
Generally I would expect a media planner to rely on planning tools and software while a comms planner will bring more creativity to it.
They are really helpful for bringing campaigns to life
Yes!! D1. I actually meant to say Droga instead of Weiden 😩😅
I think it varies from place to place but at my agency comms planners are basically media planners and perform all the same functions. Strategists are in charge of the big picture brand story and don't get involved with planning media
